A year ago today, Kare4All completed its first delivery. It is unbelievable to think that an idea I came up with back in May of 2020 has become what this nonprofit is today.

Last year, I was very nervous for my first delivery day. I had not met any of the people that I would be serving, and was still getting to know the people that I would work with at the food bank. My first delivery day was not ideal; it took time finding everyone's address and carrying the boxes to each location. I believe that it took us about five hours to complete deliveries on the first day, whereas now, it takes us about two hours.

It is great to see how much we have been able to grow since that first day. We now have an efficient system of packing and delivering. Each volunteer has a job during packing such as purchasing food at the nonprofit store, assembling boxes, or packing food. During deliveries, if we deliver to a single complex, we will bring wagons, which help us to be more efficient with deliveries. When we deliver to individual homes, we will have volunteers take different cars and divide the number of deliveries. These processes allow us to be quicker with the delivery process, as well as have more time to talk with the people we serve.

I am so grateful that Kare4All has been able to address a legitimate need in this West Sacramento community. This would not have been possible without the volunteers we have recruited and everyone we have been able to work with at the food bank. This support system has allowed us to deliver approximately 1100 boxes of food over this past year.

As an organization, we are always looking to grow the list of people we serve. Our goal is to be able to allow people the option to receive food who are not able to access food banks due to various circumstances. If you, or someone you know, living in West Sacramento, would be interested in our program, please feel free to send me a message through this website.

I am going to end this blog post with a quote from Denzel Washington: "At the end of the day, it's not about what you have or even what you've accomplished...it's about who you've lifted up, who you've made better. It's about what you've given back."

See you next time,

Kelly Wilson

President and Founder of Kare4All Inc.
