On Friday, August 14, Kare4All Inc. completed its first delivery day. Myself, Kelly Wilson, and six other volunteers packed boxes at the Yolo Food Bank from 11:30 to 1:30. We packed twenty two boxes with a wide array of items from the Yolo Food Bank such as pasta, rice, beans, and tortillas. We created an assembly line and each volunteer had a task that they needed to complete, whether it was shopping for food, preparing boxes, or loading them in the car. We were able to work together very efficiently, and I am very thankful for the volunteers that helped with that process.
We were able to fill one car with all of the boxes that would be delivered. We had a total of twenty two customers and nine stops. Some of our customers were residents at the same complexes, so it was very convenient when it came to deliveries. On this first delivery day, we had four volunteers delivering: Laura, Larry, Alexis, and myself. As we delivered boxes to each person, it was very heartwarming to see their reactions. It was amazing to see that something I enjoy doing can make such a positive impact on other people's lives. When our customers bless and thank us, it inspires us to continue to build our nonprofit. This immense gratitude expressed by our customers causes me to want to do even more and exceed my goals. In total, we delivered boxes for three hours. It was only our first time delivering, so it took us a little longer to find each of our customer's locations. We hope to make deliveries more efficient the next time we volunteer.
Overall, our first delivery day was a great success. It was very touching to see the joy on our customers' faces when we delivered their packages. We hope to continue with deliveries and increase the number of homes that we are delivering to.
