Kare4All's second delivery day went much smoother than the first delivery day. After the first delivery day, we knew exactly what we wanted to pack for our customers, and were able to pack boxes in an organized and efficient way. We had five volunteers present packing boxes. We had a couple volunteers shopping at the Yolo Food Bank's store, some volunteers packing, and others taping boxes.
Instead of using only one car, we divided the packages into two cars. Four additional volunteers joined us to help deliver. In the first car, six of our volunteers delivered boxes to apartment complexes that housed multiple customers. They were able to make fewer stops and deliver packages more efficiently with more volunteers. In the second car, three volunteers delivered to customers who did not live in the same duplexes as our other customers. This second car made more stops, but only delivered one box per stop. The deliveries only took about one and a half hours, compared to three hour deliveries on the first day.
It was great to be able to see our customers again and see the smiles on their faces as they received our packages. We delivered twenty eight boxes as opposed to twenty two, and there were many new people who asked us to be put on our delivery list, so the number of boxes that we deliver should increase on our next delivery day. I am glad to see the improvement in our operations and I am excited that we are able to continue to touch the lives of our previous customers as well as our new ones.
We would not be able to do this with out our amazing volunteers and friends at the Yolo Food Bank. Thank you so much for letting this nonprofit make a difference in our community.
We excited to continue to make this nonprofit the best that it can be.
